INNOVATION
My work in innovation and research is driven by a clear ambition: to translate deep analytical thinking into measurable impact for organizations, ecosystems, and society. I operate at the intersection of innovation management, media and data systems, and sustainability, combining academic research with executive practice and board-level perspectives.
Innovation from First Principles
My academic research is rooted in First Principles Thinking — the systematic questioning and reconstruction of assumptions to design innovation at its core rather than optimizing existing solutions. In my doctoral work (Dr. rer. soc. oec., cum laude), I focused on agile product and content development in the creative industries, examining how innovation emerges in complex, fast-moving ecosystems characterized by uncertainty, creativity, and high coordination needs.
My research analyzed how agility, governance structures, and decision-making models influence innovation outcomes, particularly in content- and media-driven environments. These insights form the conceptual backbone of my ongoing work in innovation systems, organizational design, and transformation.
From Innovation Theory to Organizational Impact
Beyond academia, I have consistently applied these principles in practice — as an executive, consultant, and board member. I design and scale innovation architectures that integrate strategy, governance, culture, and execution. This includes:
-
Building and leading innovation and sustainability organizations
-
Designing agile operating models and KPI systems
-
Translating innovation strategy into market-ready products, services, and communication systems
Across all contexts, my approach starts from first principles: What problem are we truly solving? What assumptions need to be challenged? What system needs to be redesigned?
Innovation, Data & Sustainability
A central focus of my work lies in the integration of innovation and sustainability. I approach sustainability not as a compliance exercise, but as a strategic innovation field that requires new systems, incentives, and decision frameworks.
My work in this space includes:
-
Developing sustainability and ESG strategies grounded in data and impact metrics
-
Designing circular and regenerative innovation models
-
Applying AI- and data-driven approaches to optimize sustainability outcomes across value chains
Here, innovation becomes a lever for resilience, long-term value creation, and systemic change.
AI-Enabled Research & Future-Oriented Innovation
To further deepen this work, I continuously expand my research and practice in AI-enabled innovation and decision-making, including executive education in Artificial Intelligence at the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford. My current focus lies on how AI can support first-principles analysis, scenario thinking, and complex system design in innovation and sustainability contexts.
